Stan Christensen

The Negotiator.

Stan Christensen has worked as a professional negotiator for the past 30 years and has taught a popular class on Negotiation at Stanford University for over 15 years.

After beginning his career on Wall Street, Christensen teamed up with Roger Fisher at The Harvard Negotiation Project, and for the next 10 years, they worked together on negotiations that came in through Harvard University. During this period, Stan traveled to over 75 countries, negotiating on behalf of governments, corporations, and NGOs. In addition to mediating political and ethnic conflicts, and advocating on behalf of corporations on cross-border issues, Stan worked on hostage negotiations, environmental disputes, refugee crises, privatizations, and mergers and acquisitions.

In 2001, after founding and working at several Silicon Valley startups, he co-founded Arbor Advisors, a boutique investment bank where he negotiates on behalf of technology entrepreneurs who are selling their companies or raising capital. He has served on a variety of boards in both the corporate and non-profit sectors.

Stan is a graduate of Brigham Young University and The Harvard Business School. He is a former Kellogg Fellow, a member of The Council of Foreign Relations, and is fluent in both Spanish and French. An avid traveler and outdoorsman, he is a sought-after speaker on negotiation and conflict resolution and is married with four children.
