Quincy Jones III

QD3 was born in London and raised in both Los Angeles and Stockholm Sweden, where he got his start in entertainment touring as a break dancer. Through his passion for technology and music he got his first drum machine and began producing demos for local acts which eventually led to his first gold record at 16 years old.

QD3 then moved to New York to pursue his dream to become a music producer in America. After a year and half in New York working with old school legends T LA Rock (1st artist signed to Def Jam records) and Special K (pof the group Treacherous 3 ft. Kool Moe Dee), QD3 deiced to attend the noted Berklee College of Music in Boston to study engineering and music theory. After Berklee QD3 moved to Los Angeles where he immediately connected with Dr. Dre, and Ice Cube. He began producing with a talent group that would include Ice Cube, Tupac, Warren G, Snoop Dogg and many others who would go onto create “West Coast Hip Hop” and change the culture around the world.

With many gold, platinum, and multi-platinum albums and single to his name (over 40 million albums sold), QD3 is a bona fide hit maker in RAP, R&B, and Pop. In addition to his many hits with artists such as Tupac, Ice Cube and LL. Cool J: QD# has remixed singles for artists such as Prince, Robyn, Queen, Lionel Richie, Ronald Isley, Queen Latifah, Coolio, Naughty by Nature , Everlast, Morcheeba among others.

QD3 has also been active in film and television composing. Having scored the influential film Menace to Society as songs featured in Training Day and Office Space. ASACP honored QD3 with the 1993 ASCAP Composers award for his work on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air starring Will Smith. Other television work work includes themes and for In The House comedy series starring LL Cool J Grown Ups starring Jaleel “Erkel White”, and Eddie Murphys animated Fox Series The P.Js for which QD3 received an Emmy nomination for best opening theme.

In 1999, QD3 launched a Film and TV production company (QD3 Entertainment) focused on chronicling the many dimensions of youth/urban culture. Begging with the multi-platinum selling DVD Tupac Shakur – Thug Angle” and followed up with the wildly popular selling BEEF trilogy, QD3 entertainment emerged as the industry standard for both commercial success and critical acclaim in the youth/urban DVD market. QD3 entertainment produces and licenses original programming for multiple broadcast outlets including Showtime, VH1, MTV, Fuse, Nickelodeon, and BET. The QD3 film collection has received rave reviews from publications such as Variety, CNN, The Los Angeles Times, MTV, Huffington Post, and Rolling Stone. BEEF won a Vibe Award for “best music DVD” in 2003. The QD3 films are also used as part of courses at UC Berkeley, Georgetown, Penn State, and UCLA among other universities.

QD3’s lifelong passion for technology, and digital media inspired him to build QD3 entertainment from the ground up with all things optimized for unrestricted multi-platform exploitation. To that end, QD3 owns and controls all rights to its over 3,000 hour library of high draw content. In June 2006 he went to form QD3 Digital in order to take advantage of the explosion of broadband video, user generated content, video on demand, and mobile. QD3 has been an active member the digital community since 1994 and received a thought leader award from Stanford Technology Ventures Program in November 2009.

QD3 continues to make headway in the entertainment industry. In January 2009 he premiered his latest documentary entitled “The Carter” at Sundance film festival wooing audiences and critics with his intimate and personal storytelling about the life and career of international rap artist Lil Wayne.
