I’m so grateful to have been reminded to read this through again. Fitzgerald’s granddaughter, who pens this version’s prelude and introduction, talks about how The Great Gatsby should be re-read each 10 years of one’s life, because it holds such a different meaning and truth in one’s teenage years (where most read the book), 20’s, 30’s and beyond. She’s right. I couldn’t appreciate the depth of Fitzgerald’s characters then, and I will learn so much more as I return to the book again a decade from now.
