Great book. The title “Sandworm” refers to one of the most serious (and precedent setting) cyber-security breaches yet, orchestrated by Russian actors. The book is written by a brilliant Wired Magazine writer who profiles each of the disperse people and companies who discovered the breach and worked to patch it. They often didn’t know about each other, working across borders from Arlington to Ukraine.
It’s a narrative look at a subject that often seems far too technical to be accessible to those not in the field. It is also a great case study of how open source systems can allow geographically disparate researchers to work together to solve very complex problems. This is such an essential subject, and one that is only beginning to pervade society as one of the most persistent threats. So books like this are an excellent way to be introduced.
