A beautiful comparative storytelling of different cultures and their languages, written by Daniel Tammet, who himself (an high-functioning autistic savant) has his own deep and fascinating history with linguistics. The book is wide-ranging, covering ancient cultures, Icelandic language, the Académie Française, and a good deal more. This was a joy to read.
