Summary

“Frustrating” is the best word that comes to mind after finishing this book — not due to the fault of the author, but due to a lack of historical clarity of key details of Alexander’s life.

Coming from Caro and Isaacson biographies focused on 20th-century figures, I’ve been a bit spoiled, expecting a dense and total description of each phase of Alexander’s development and career. This of course is not something you are going to get with a study from the 4th century BC. Nonetheless, I finished the book interested in reading a lot more on Alexander and will be on the hunt for more literature on the topic.
